National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters announces pilot test for the following languages:

Russian and Cantonese – Tests available as of June 13, 2011
Korean, Mandarin and Vietnamese – Tests available as of June 20, 2011

The pilot tests are offered free of charge to candidates who are medical interpreters in these languages.

DMACC Interpretation and Translation Program, ongoing (DSM)

5th edition of the Introduction to Terminology Online Course, starts October 2011

This course, offered by the IULATERM research group on Terminology, is the first module of our Terminology Distance Learning Programme.

The course deals with the basic principles of theory and practice in Terminology and is intended for language professionals dealing with special languages and terminology in their daily activities, such as specialized translators. The course is taught in English and completely online.

Iowa Judicial Branch Written Exam for Court Interpreters, (several dates and locations throughout Iowa). Click here for details.

The Fall 2011 Iowa Court Interpreter written examination will be held on Friday, November 18, 2011, at the DMACC Urban Campus, Betts Building, Room 102, in Des Moines, Iowa. Applications to take the November 18 examination must be received in the Office of Professional Regulation no later than 4:30 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2011. NO exceptions will be made. Registration forms may be found at http://www.iowacourts.gov/District_Courts/Court_Interpreters/Forms/.
